SEO Steps You Need To Take After Launching Your New Site

First of all, congratulations on launching your new website! We understand that designing, proofing and writing the content for a new site are all very stressful processes. However, just because your site is online, doesn’t mean the hard work stops, you now need to ensure that your website ranks as highly as possible in the search results. In this guide, we’re going to explain the SEO steps you now need to take after launching your new site.

Structure Your Website Around Keywords

The first SEO step you’ll need to take after launching your new site will be to ensure that you’ve structured your website according to your targeted keywords.

This will be determined around the purpose of your site, but if for example you have produced a site based around football, you’d want a category for each of the major clubs to rank for its targeted keywords, and attract visitors based on them looking to find out the news around a specific team.

By using this structure for your website, you will be able to create an established theme and provide a keyword for each page of the site, opposed to having one page with multiple keywords. This therefore increases the relevance of each page and by definition, increases your ranking in search engine results.

Check Your Website’s Speed

The next step you’ll need to take is checking your website’s speed. Your site’s loading time is of vital importance if you want to rank highly in search engine results. If a visitor to your site closes it before it loads due to it being too slow, this will increase your bounce rate, thus damaging your SEO ranking.

As for the current standard, a recent study completed by Google found that most landing pages take around 22 seconds to fully load. However, that same study revealed that more than half of mobile site visitors leave a page if it takes more than 3 seconds to load.

That’s a 19 second differential to make up! Thankfully, you can use Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool. Providing your website with a speed rating, it takes into account a variety of factors that might be slowing a page down. Google will then give you a series of suggestions as to how you can improve the speed.

Upload New Content

The best means of bringing in organic traffic and thus boosting your ranking in search engine results is via content marketing.

You can effectively target key words in any form of marketing material, but we suggest that you first do this in blogs, as they tend to be the easiest and quickest content to produce.

Recent data released by Hub Spot revealed that websites, who had published over 16 blogs a month, got 4x as much traffic as sites that had only published between zero and four blogs a month.

This same sentiment was reflected in the overall amount of blogs a website produced over a substantial period of time. The report found that sites with more than 400 blog posts had 2x as much traffic as those who had published between 301-400 blogs.

As for how to ensure that you produce a large amount of content, we recommend that once launching your site you begin to stockpile blogs, writing dozens of keyword orientated pieces of content that you can continuously upload.

Chart Your Success

To chart each of these three step’s success, install Google Analytics immediately after launching, as you’ll receive data which will help you to optimise your website even further.

The free tracking software will show you how many bounces you receive, in accordance to your website’s speed.

It will also help you to spot specific keywords that you might be able to integrate into your site’s content, meta descriptions and titles. As well as showing you the amount of traffic each of your uploaded blogs receives.
